A Nigerian feminist, who is very popular on Twitter, Ozzy Etomi drew unnecessary attention to herself after she tweeted about ‘ignoring’ her dad when he texted to invite her and her siblings for a meeting.
Ozzy wrote that Nigerian parents must recognise that, when their kids are grown, they(parents) must learn to cut them some slacks — as they’d definitely have their own schedule to run.
My dad sent a text round to my siblings and I on sat night for us to convene to see him Sunday at 2pm. When noone showed because, adults with lives, he said “THIS IS INDISCIPLINE”. Lmao. Nigerian parents don’t realize their kids become adults and they must cut the cord 🙄🙄;
How can you summon grown adults aged 28 – 37 like we don’t have shit of our own going on. Sir, we will see you at a time that works with everyones schedule, till then you know what that meins.
Well, many Nigerians took it upon themselves to schools her for being ‘disrespectful’ to her father. She was dragged for most of Friday morning and afternoon.

Ozzy’s tweet was so contextually vague that it’s almost impossible to read without plugging in your own bias & running with it.

Everyday on here I keep saying – don’t follow the wrong template. Ozzy is a wrong template. I don’t follow her but her misleading ideas get discussed and I see them. I pray ladies will hold onto GOD and not let the devil trick them to lose their place in life. pic.twitter.com/55P6cp4p6a

Y'all mad cause Ozzy said you're all adults that deserve respect for your time?
Ah.

There's actually nothing wrong with Ozzy's tweet, and it would have gotten no backlash if it were someone else.
The problem with Twitter NG is that once they form an opinion of you from your tweets overtime, their bias gets in the way of their interpretation of anything you say.
