The presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party(YPP), Kingsley Moghalu has said that Nigeria must not wait for many centuries to develop just because that is what it took other countries.
The former presidential candidate said this on Thursday in a few tweets via his Twitter handle.
Moghalu spoke about the recent “constitutional tension ” between American President Donald Trump and the US Congress over the Mueller probe.
Speaking further, Moghalu said that compared using the “shortcomings” the American democracy as a yardstick for Nigeria’s almost stagnant development.
What he wrote
America’s constitutional tensions as Donald Trump and the US Congress duel over the Mueller probe makes clear no democracy is perfect. But America has a GDP per capita of $64,000, a poverty level of 12% and life expectancy of 78 years. Nigeria has $2,049, 53.7% and 55 years.
There is no perfect govt or even system of govt, but we must work hard to achieve “escape velocity” from poverty. Regardless of the type of govt, the people’s quality of life matters most. China and rising Asia know this
Let’s not wait for centuries because it took others so long. As most of Asia has done, though they were once colonized too, we can short-circuit to development. How? We must think deeply and act with global strategic intent – a worldview.
