The super eagles of Nigeria have lost the group match to debutant Madagascar at the Alexandria Stadium in Egypt.
The super eagles had qualified for the round of 16 after defeating Burundi and Guinea in the first two matches of the group stage.
The match was billed to be a stroll in the pack for Nigeria against a Madagascar team playing in their first cup of nations.
The super eagles rested several keys players ahead of the match, however, things did not go according to plan as Leon Balogun’s mistake gifted the Madagascar team the lead.
Nigeria conceded again in the second half after Wilfred Ndidi deflected a free-kick past Ezenwa.
Nigeria is set to face the runner up in Group F.
