The Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa has given an update on the situation with former Big Brother Africa star, Tayo Faniran who was assaulted by South African police on Thursday.
In a video shared by Tayo Faniran himself on a live feed, the police are seen harassing him for refusing to follow them to the station in a police car after he refused to grant them access to search his phone.
Tayo said the attack on him stemmed from xenophobia, while calling for justice before he was arrested.
Reacting to the arrest of the reality star, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, tweeted:
“Still on the incident involving ex BBN star, Tayo. He is out Police net. Our mission in Joburg took it up with the authorities. They claimed he was rude and shouted at them immediately he was stopped. No matter, the Police behaviour was wrong. We are trying to reach Tayo.”
