The reason for the clampdown may not be unconnected to the assault on Ekweremadu, although the German Police reportedly carried out several arrests on the day of the attack.

According to a spokesman, Rex Osa, who revealed the news to The Nation, “Those who will be deported will be picked randomly from their different accommodation centers from 3 am till 5 am in different regions and conveyed to a central place and finally to Frankfurt Airport.”

Osa called on the Federal Government to provide assistance to the victims, since many of them were coming into the country with health problems.

“Among these people are many sick people. Nigeria should be expecting a lot of people who have psychological problems, and people with spinal cord problems leading to paralysis,” Osa said.
