The Defence Headquarters has arrested two policemen linked to leaking information to the suspected kidnap kingpin in the Taraba covert operation that led to the killing of three policemen and a civilian by soldiers.

According to Daily Trust, the two policemen working at Ibi police division “were arrested for allegedly leaking information to Hamisu Wadume of plans to arrest him”.

The panel also reportedly ordered the arrest of five soldiers who were at the army checkpoint, and the 60 people alleged to be working for the suspected kidnap kingpin are at large.

It was reported that the two army checkpoints along the road where the killing occurred have also been dismantled while the bodies of those killed have been conveyed to Abuja.

The drivers of commercial vehicles and motorcycles belonging to the kidnap suspect are also among those been hunted.

The panel was set up by the defence headquarters (DHQ) to look into the unfortunate incident that led to the death of the policemen and one civilian — after the army had been accused by the police of intentionally killing its operatives.
