Presidential Election Tribunal Adjourns Until August 21

On Thursday, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja set aside August 21 for final statements in the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

This decision came after President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress closed its case at the tribunal.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and PDP are by their petition challenging the victory of Buhari and the APC at the February 23, 2019, presidential poll.

It should be recalled that Independent National Electoral Commission; the other respondent in the case had earlier closed its case saying the commission won’t be calling on any witnesses.

President Buhari’s legal team presented witnesses between Tuesday and Wednesday and finally closed its case on Thursday without calling a witness.

Justice Mohammed Garba led five-man panel fixed August 21 for the adoption of the final addresses by the lawyers representing the parties in the case.
