Shehu Sanni, a former All Progressive Congress(APC) chieftain, has advised that the Yorubas and the Igbos may lose out on the presidential seat in 2023 if they do not unite and field the same candidate for the election.

According to the Kaduna state born politician who made this known during an interactiveĀ session organised by the Correspondents Chapel of theĀ  Nigeria Union of Journalists, FCT Council, he said the ruling class is not ready to yield to the idea of a rotational presidency.

What he said in full:

ā€œIt will be unfair for other sections of the country if one section uses its topographical or demographic advantage to hold onto power, knowing full well that it was not the topography or demographic advantage that delivered them power.

ā€œRotation of power is what I prescribe and stand for, whether that power goes to the South-East or South-West, it is dependent on the people of the South.

ā€œWhat I will say is that there is a possibility of producing a northern asĀ  President in 2023 if the South-East and the South-West remain divided in their resolve on the governance of the country.

ā€œIt is this division that will be exploited by those who are proposing the issue of competence.ā€
