A Federal high court sitting in Abuja has ordered that the deposed Emir of Kano state, Sanusi Lamido be released immediately following his dethronement on Monday.
Since his dethronement, reports claim that he has been held in Awe community, Nasarawa.
The presiding judge, Justice Anwuli Chikere while granting the prayers of the dethroned Emir’s lawyer, Lateef Fagbemi ordered that the release of the deposed monarch be served on the respondents to the application.

The respondents to the application are the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu; the Director-General of the Department of State Service, Yusuf Bichi; the Attorney-General of Kano State, Ibrahim Muktar; and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN).
The judge fixed March 26 for further hearing in the case.
