Buhari Threatens To ‘Deal Decisively With Violent Protesters’

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to deal decisively with all forms of unlawful protests in the country and those behind them.

This is coming at a time when the second wave of #EndSARS protest began in some parts of the country.

He added that no protest or protesters will be allowed to threaten the peace and stability of the country.

This is was made known while virtually declaring open the Chief of Army Staff’s Annual Conference 2020 on Monday.

He commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their efforts at restoring law and order in various states during the unrest that ensued in the wake of the #ENDSARS protests.

President Buhari reiterated his government’s commitment to the rights of citizens to embark on peaceful protests responsibly and in accordance with the laws of the land.

He, however, expressed the #ENDSARS protests were “sadly hijacked by hooligans to cause wanton damage to lives and property in many cities across the country.”

He warned that hooligans hiding behind lawful and peaceful protests will be dealt with decisively to ensure peace and stability in the country.
