The Adamawa State Government has insisted that the closure of schools across the state was not informed by a resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Press Secretary to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou made this known to newsmen on Monday.
Recall that on Friday, the state government announced the immediate closure of all schools.
Although the government gave peaking Christmas and New Year activities as a reason for the closure, many reports linked the closure to the resurgence of COVID-19.
“The reports must have been influenced by happenings in other states, but we in Adamawa did not close schools because of COVID-19,” Humwashi Wonosikou said.
He further stated that the state had handled the pandemic well, hence, there was no reason to panic by shutting down schools.
