Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over his appointment of new service chiefs.

President Muhammadu Buhari finally bowed to pressure on Tuesday by appointing new service chiefs.

This was confirmed on Tuesday in a statement from presidential media aide, Femi Adesina.

The new Service Chiefs are: Major-General Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff; Major-General I. Attahiru, Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral A.Z Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Air-Vice Marshal I.O Amao, Chief of Air Staff.

This move by the President is coming after several calls for replacement of the service chiefs from different quarters of the country.

Reacting to this development, Omokri, a staunch critic of President Buhari, commended the President for listening to the voices of reason.

He, however, expressed disappointment over the ethnicity of many of the newly appointed service chiefs.

He wrote: “I commend General @MBuhari for listening to voices of reason and sacking his clueless and nepotistic service chiefs. Good riddance to bad rubbish. It is disappointing that he maintained his practice of appointing largely Northern Muslim males, but half bread is better than none.”
