Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the fire outbreak that engulfed homes of internally displaced persons’ (IDP) camp in Maiduguri, Borno State on Tuesday.
Three persons, including an infant, were reportedly killed in the fire disaster that destroyed about 600 homes in an internally displaced persons’ (IDP) camp in Borno.
The chairperson of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Yabawa Kolo, disclosed this on Wednesday.
Reacting to this development, the former Presidential candidate lamented over the incidence, describing it as heartbreaking.
He wrote on his Twitter page:
“This is heartbreaking to imagine that vulnerable citizens fleeing from one tragedy can encounter another in what is supposed to be a temporary haven. This calls for more caution in preventive measures during this season.
“Efforts should be stepped up to rehabilitate those affected. May the souls of those who died rest in peace.”
