JAMB to build N6bn headquarters in Abuja

Joint Administration and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has proposed to build a new headquarter in Abuja with a sum of six billion naira.

The examination body revealed that the new headquarters will be built at the centre of Abuja when it appeared before the Public Accounts Committee of the Federal House of Representatives.

Mufutau Bello, the Director of Finance and Accounts appeared on behalf of the examination body before the Lower chamber.

Bello said, “we have been saving ₦2 billion yearly since 2018 to raise the money to start the building.

“We have saved up to ₦5.5 Billion so far, the COVID-19 pandemic affected our internally generated revenue last year, 2020.

“We proposed to move our central headquarter from Bwari area to centre of Abuja. Since we do not receive subvention from the government for our overhead and capital, we agreed to set aside ₦2 billion yearly because our budget is ₦6 billion to move our headquarter to Central area.

“The money is kept in our in our TSA”.

The Chairman of the committee, House of Representatives on Public Accounts Committee, Hon. Oluwole Oke said it is unwise to keep such an amount idle without investing it.
