Protest Rocks MAPOLY Over Delay In NYSC Mobilisation
Protesting Nigerian Students

Aggrieved graduates of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic on Friday stormed the school premises to protest the management’s failure to mobilize them for the compulsory one-year National Youth Service Corps.

The protesters who graduated from the school in 2019 said the management is not committed to mobilizing them for the next batch.

The protesters stormed the school gate as early as 8am, chanting Aluta songs with placards of different demands such as “WE ARE TIRED”, “LET US GO”, “WE WANT TO SERVE” and others.

The students do not agree that the COVID-19 pandemic is the reason the institution did not mobilize them, saying their colleagues in other higher institutions like Lagos State University had been mobilized.

Adeniyi Marcus who graduated from Microbiology in 2019 said their aim is not to cause havoc but to peacefully demand for their right.

Reacting to the protest, the acting Rector of the institution, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, said the management had made contact to NYSC for those whose documentation has been completed to be mobilized.

He assured the protesters that those who have fully documented themselves are being mobilised now.
