Men of the Nigerian Army on Monday engaged insurgents in gunfire over an attempt to take over Dikwa town in Borno State, Nigeria.

According to TheCable, a military source revealed that the insurgents targeted Dikwa because the town is a border area that will be useful for transporting materials for their (insurgents) operation.

The source said, “Dikwa was attacked. The insurgents are trying to take control of the community because it is a border town which will be useful to them for their logistics.”

Over the past weeks, the Nigerian troops have intensified efforts to repel insurgency in the North-East Region of the country, Nigeria.
