Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has asked the Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to screen Lauretta Onochie, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Social Media, and five other nominees as INEC commissioners.

The directive comes after President Buhari on October 13, 2020, wrote to the Senate to confirm Ms. Onochie.

Onochie’s nomination was faulted by many Nigerians including lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party.
