Former NFF President, Oneya, Dies At 73

Former President, Nigeria Football Federation, Brigadier General Dominic Oneya (retd.), is dead.

Born on May 26, 1948, Oneya, who hailed from Agbarho Kingdom in Ughelli, reportedly died on Thursday morning in his home at Effurun GRA in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Current NFF president Amaju Pinnick confirmed Oneya’s death.

“Yes, he is dead,” Pinnick told newsmen.

Oneya was NFF boss from 1999 to 2002.

He served in various capacities in CAF committees and recently headed the Ministerial Committee on Reforms in Nigerian Football

Oneya was from 1996 to 1998 military administrator of Kano State.

The late army general was also the military administrator of Benue State during the reign of Abdulsalami Abubakar between 1998 and 1999.
