The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed the date for the publication of the final lists of presidential and governorship candidates ahead of the 2023 general polls.
Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of INEC, announced the dates on Thursday in Abuja at a seminar with the theme “Conducting Nigeria’s 2023 Elections amid Volatile Security Environment” that was sponsored by the Centre for Democracy and Development.

The breakdown of events leading up to the conduct of the 2023 elections was provided by Professor Yakubu who noted that although the list of presidential candidates will be revealed on September 20, the list of candidates for governorships will be released on October 4.
The INEC chairman urged political parties and their candidates to concentrate on issue-based campaigning. He further explained that the commission is collaborating with security agencies to ensure a peaceful election.
