Alex Iwobi was named Everton’s Man of the Match, as the team recorded its first Premier League win of the season after a challenging 1-0 win against West Ham at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Everton announced Iwobi as his team’s best player on their Twitter handle.
The win takes Everton up to 13th place on the league table.
Iwobi was significantly involved in the game for Everton and marked his impressive performance with the assist that led to the only goal scored by Neal Maupay.
Iwobi, during the post-match conference, lauded his coach, Frank Lampard, for having faith in him.
“I’ve always had the mindset that I can try to prove people wrong. The manager has given me faith to do so, and how to express myself as I always do in training,” Iwobi said.
The Nigerian has assisted three out of Everton’s last four goals in all competitions.
The former Arsenal midfielder had made 34 passes in the final third, 74 touches, won possession eight times, made three clearances, and won three duels.
