As Students’ Leader In The 90s, Tinubu Was No Match For Me, Says Sowore

Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), has boasted that Bola Tinubu, standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is no match for him.

He said this in a video clip he posted on his Facebook page on Monday, saying that he only met Tinubu once, which was in 1999 after the former governor of Lagos returned from exile.

Sowore was the president of the University of Lagos Students’ Union Government between 1992 and 1994.

“It was just once I met Tinibu, and that was 1999 when he returned from exile. He was on the street of Ikeja with Obanikoro campaigning,” he said.

“What I want to say is that when we were at the student union at the university, we went to different meetings with people who were fighting for the rights of the citizens.

“When we sat at the high table, the likes of Tinubu who were senators would sit at the extreme end. I’m not saying this to brag, but at that time, they couldn’t speak where we speak.

“You can ask Tinubu, he is still alive and if he wants to tell you the truth, he would tell you he doesn’t know who I am. We were not slaves to the likes of him,” he said.
