Chinese Man Who Killed Girlfriend In Kano, Remanded In Prison

A magistrate’s court in Kano State has ordered that the Chinese national, Geng Quanrong, who murdered alleged lover,  Ummukulsum Buhari, be remanded in prison custody.

According to the police reports, 22-year-old Buhari was stabbed multiple times by the 47-year-old Quanrong in her residence at Janbulo quarters, Kumbotso LGA of Kano.

Ummukulsum was confirmed dead on arrival at the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano.

The accused appeared before the court on Wednesday for arraignment on the charge of culpable homicide.

However, the presiding magistrate, Hanif Ciroma, held that the court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the case.

Khalifa Hashim, the police counsel, after that appealed to the court to return the accused to the custodial facility since it had no jurisdiction, pending legal advice from the Kano state ministry of justice.

As a result of the appeal, the magistrate remanded the suspect in Kurmawa Medium Security Custodial Centre until October 13, pending when he would be arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction.
