The Super Falcons of Nigeria lost 2-1 to the USA women’s national team in the second leg of the double-header friendly games.
The outing was a better performance from the Falcons, beaten four-nil by the US in their first meeting in Kansas City on Saturday.
The match, which played inside the Audi Field on Tuesday, saw Falcons score her first goal against the Americans for the first time in 22 years.
The last time the Falcons scored against the US was on September 20, 2002, at the Sydney Olympics. Super Falcons legend Mercy Akide scored that goal.
However, the Falcons are still looking for a victory over the US team to break the perennial domination of the Stars and Stripes team.
The double-header friendly was in preparation for the upcoming FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
The Falcons will play Japan in Kobe on October 6 to continue preparations for the World Cup.
