UEFA To Introduce New Super Cup Format, Suggests Four Teams

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is considering plans to revamp the Super Cup.

According to reports, the body is planning to substitute the Super Cup with a novel four-team tournament as they seek to increase their earnings.

The new tournament would consist of four teams in a similar format to the current Spanish Supercup.

The teams suggested to be invited would be the winners of the Champions League, Europa League, the Europa Conference League and MLS.

The tournament would be played every summer from the plans being worked on. There is also a big possibility that some of the games would be played outside of Europe, a move that promises to fetch new audiences for UEFA.

Further meetings and deliberations are set to take place at the European Club Association’s General Assembly in Istanbul on Thursday and Friday, with the organization willing to promote a spirit of innovation.
