Conte Charges His Strikers To Be More Clinical After Draw With Eintracht Frankfurt

Antonio Conte has charged his strikers to be more clinical in front of goal after Tottenham was held to a goalless draw in a UEFA Champions League Group D game against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The visitors, looking to respond after the loss to Arsenal at the weekend, put in a predominantly bright display but were let down by poor finishing.

“It was a good match. We played with great intensity,” said Conte. “I think we need to be more clinical. We created many, many chances to score. It’s not easy to play away with this atmosphere, I think my players coped with that well.

“In football, you have to score. I think for the big effort for the whole team, maybe we deserved much more. The most important thing for me is to create chances.”

The draw leaves Tottenham second in Group D with four points after three games, two points behind the Sporting Lisbon leaders, who lost 4-1 at Marseille earlier on Tuesday.

Eintracht Frankfurt, meanwhile, is level on points with Spurs but in third place on goal difference.
