FIFA U-17 WWC: We’ll Be More Focused And Determined – Coach Olowookere

Flamingos head coach Bankole Olowookere has revealed that his team is focused on their next game against Chile at the 2022 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Olowookere’s girls secured their first win after defeating New Zealand on Friday afternoon, bouncing back from a 2-1 defeat in their first game against Germany.

Nigeria now occupies the second position in group B and needs only a draw against the Chileans to scale through to the knockout round.

“We will approach the game against Chile the same way we did against Germany and New Zealand,” coach Olowookere said.

“This match is a step to the next stage or a step out of the competition, and so we have to be a lot more careful.

“We will be cautious but be more focused and determined.”

The coach also reacted to criticisms focused on the team’s scoring abilities.

He said he is not disturbed by the misses because he believes that it is what is expected at their level.

“These are young players coming up, so such things are expected as part of their development,” he said.

“What was more important is that they have been creating the chances.”
