Samuel Ortom, the governor of Benue State, has stated that if he was not a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, he would have fought for the success of the Labour party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Governor Ortom disclosed this on Wednesday when he hosted Obi at his private residence in Abuja.

Recall that the Benue governor and other top members of the PDP, along Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and three other governors have been calling for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

Ortom’s statement has added to the swelling doubt on whether some of the aggrieved members of his party will back Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate, in the forthcoming general election.

“Let us be factual, let us be frank with ourselves because we are toying with our future. A country of over 200 million people deserve a better leadership that is proactive, that has foresight, that has vision to make things work for our country.

“I am in PDP, and I am working for PDP, and I tell you, If I were not in PDP, you would see me working for Peter Obi. But I am in PDP… lets see how things work out”.
