Sanwo-Olu Confirmed As Chief Host Of 2022 AMAA Awards

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State Governor, has been confirmed to be the chief host of the 2022 Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA).

The Governor has affirmed again his pledge to host the African film community at the 18th edition of the Africa Movie Academy Award (AMAA) slated for the 30th of October, 2022.

Reports revealed that the Governor agreed to host AMAA for the next four years after visiting the 17th edition at the Marriot Hotel in Ikeja last year.

According to Lagos state’s Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, the state is prepared to accommodate the African film industry and also promised first-time visitors a positive experience and a more special one for repeat visitors.

Also, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the founder of AMAA, spoke about preparations for the award ceremony and used the opportunity to laud Sanwo-Olu for keeping his promise.

“We are happy Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has restated his commitment to host AMAA for the next four years. He is not only making true his promise from last year but also displayed the traits of a true leader.

“The AMAA team has been working with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for execution of a successful awards ceremony.”
