Nigeria defeated New Zealand 4-0 in their second Group B game of the 2022 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in India on Friday.
The convincing win means the flamingos move into second place on the group table and advance their quest for qualification into the next round.
The goals came from Amina Bello, Miracle Usani, Taiwo Afolabi, and Edidiong Etim. Bello netted the first goal with a header from Tumininu Adeshina’s cross in the 16th minute.

The New Zealand goalie missed Miracle Usani’s lofted cross in the 34th minute, and the score increased to 2-0.
Afolabi’s scored a good goal from 25 yards, and in the 90th minute, Etim scored Nigeria’s fourth goal with a long-range effort that found the top right corner of the net to cap a genuinely sensational team effort.
The flamingos will play Chile in their final group game on Monday for a place in the next round.
Both teams have three points after two games, and Nigeria sits second with higher goal difference.
