Iyorchia Ayu, the national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has responded to an allegation made against him by Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State.

Recall that Governor Wike accused the PDP leader of receiving N100 million from a state governor of the party on Friday.

Wike made the accusation at a press conference with journalists held at the State House in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.

Ayu quickly refuted the governor’s allegation, claiming that it was inaccurate and that he had never received money as an individual.

However, he clarified that any funds received on the party’s behalf were promptly transferred to the PDP treasury.

Ayu furthered the argument by noting that a governor of the party donated N100m for the renovation of the PDP’s Democratic Institute, and the money has not even been exhausted as the renovation is ongoing.

Ayu reportedly stated that the institute will be commissioned in the weeks ahead.
