Former president of the United States states of America, Donald Trump is reportedly preparing to return to both Facebook and Twitter, according to NBC News.

Trump was banned on both Twitter and Facebook following the events of January 6th, 2021.

The riot at the American capital was a difficult day in the recent history of the United States, and it marked the beginning of his absence on both of the biggest social media platforms on the planet.

But, as the 2024 race for the White House gets underway, the former president is set to use some of the largest and most influential social media platforms.

Trump’s campaign team has reportedly sent a letter to Meta, the Zuckerberg-owned business that controls Facebook.

In a letter to Meta obtained by NBC News on Wednesday, Trump advisers argued that the ban “dramatically distorted and inhibited the public discourse” and should be rescinded.

“We believe that the ban on President Trump’s account on Facebook has dramatically distorted and inhibited the public discourse,” the letter stated.

Meta responded saying it would “announce a decision in the coming weeks”.
