Swansea Seals a Club Record Deal For Ivoirian Striker Bony.

Swansea City have completed the signing of Ivory Coast international Wilfried Bony from Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem, subject to work permit clearance.

Bony’s arrival at Swansea is thought to have cost the club a club record £12m with potential add-ons to follow, smashing the previous £5.5m record transfer fee paid for Spanish winger Pablo Hernandez last summer.

Bony completed a medical at Swansea’s pre-season training camp in Holland earlier in the week and put pen to paper on a four-year deal that was finalized today (Thursday).

The striker said his decision to join last season’s League Cup winners was prompted by the appeal of playing in the 2013/14 Europa League.

“The Europa League is my first focus,” added Bony who featured for Sparta Prague before moving to Vitesse Arnhem. “I enjoyed playing in Europe; I am used to it.”

“This move has been talked about for quite some time, so I am delighted it is all completed. Now it important that I focus my mind on the challenge ahead because I hope to make the Swansea fans very happy.”

Bony has scored eight goals in 20 appearances for Ivory Coast and was on target during the 2013 African Cup of Nations earlier this year, helping the ‘Elephants’ reach the quarter-final.
