NSCDC Arrests 4 In Osun Over Adulteration Of Fuel

The Osun State command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested four men suspected to be involved in adulteration and diversion of petroleum products.

Two of the suspects, Agboola Abiodun and Oyedeji Abiodun, who were arrested at Omo West area of Osogbo, the state capital, were alleged to have been involved in mixing diesel with kerosene before selling to unsuspecting members of the public.

Mr Ayodele Olowe, the state command’s Public Relations Officer in Osogbo, yesterday, said in a statement that the “suspects were nabbed while siphoning the adulterated diesel into a truck with number plate Lagos XW 321 EKY, while the driver of the truck took to his heels on sighting our men.”

Recovered from the crime scene were twenty-eight kegs containing 1000 litres of kerosene, 12 kegs containing 300 litres of adulterated diesel, two pumping machines and a long hose.

Also in Osun State, two other suspects, Tolawo Kehinde and Kareem Taju were arrested with a truck carrying 10,000 litres of suspected adulterated diesel at Oduduwa University junction in Ile-Ife.

The two trucks have been impounded while the suspects will be arraigned in courtat the end of March.
