Man Killed In Car Crash The Day He Became A Father

An Emirati man was on Sunday night killed in a car crash on the same day his first child was born.

According to the police, the 32-year-old died after his car collided with a motorcycle and veered off Al Seh Road in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arabs Emirate.

Lt Col Ali Said Alalkim, Acting Director of Traffic and Patrol Department at Ras Al Khaimah police, said the victim was killed when his car collided with a motorcycle driven by a 24-year-old Asian man, Lt Col Alalkim said.

The accident took place when the Emirati man swerved to avoid hitting a motorcycle which entered the main road without making sure it was clear of cars.

This forced the car driver try to avoid the collision but his attempt failed, Lt Col Alalkim said.

The man’s car veered off the road and somersaulted over three to four times before it stopped in a sandy area.

The motorcycle driver sustained moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Emirati driver was transferred to Saqr hospital where he was later pronounced dead due to his injuries sustained. His son was born at the same hospital, earlier that day.

A close friend of the deceased disclosed that the victim was an only child who suffered from cardiac problems.

He said: “He was blessed with his first baby earlier that day and was planning to go and see his wife and the baby at the hospital in the morning but he did not have the chance to do so.”

The body of the victim was handed over to his family and he was buried on Monday morning in Ras Al Khaimah cemetery.

Police launched an investigation over the incident and the motorcycle driver will be interrogated once he has recovered.

Lt Col Alalkim urged motorists to pay attention to roads while driving to avoid such tragedies.
