Martins, Haruna Score for Their Clubs Over the Weekend.

Obafemi Martins and Lukman Haruna were on form for their respective clubs on Saturday.

Martins returned from a nagging knee injury to clinch a victory for Seattle Sounders in the American Major League Soccer (MLS) game against San Jose Earthquake. They won 4-0.

His stoppage time goal was the product of a defensive error from center- backs Morrow and Bernandez and he clinically tapped in the fourth goal for the home team.

The Earthquakes are ranked 5th place, having earned 14 points from 12 matches but Seattle are only two points adrift with three games in hand.

Martins was a 55th minute substitute in this fixture and the Nigeria international has now scored two goals for Seattle.

In Ukraine, Lukman Haruna netted the match winner for Dynamo Kiev against Illichivets.

Dynamo, so far, have made 59 points and are sure of participation in next season’s Europa League.

Haruna scored in the 16th minute but was later substituted in the 79th minute to to avoid getting his marching orders.

Taiye Taiwo played for the same team the length of the game while Brown Edeye was was a 58th minute substitute for Marco Ruben.

The former Under- 17 and Under- 20 has now scored five goals in the Ukraine League.

Speaking after the match, the lad was excited to have scored the winning goal.

“I am happy to have done it again. I will keep doing my best in terms of scoring and see if my goals could lift the club to secure a Champions League ticket,” Haruna told MTNFootball.com.

“I am still very much confident that we can play in the Champions League next season but we must be very ruthless and be thoroughly focused in the remaining games.

“It’s great for me to score every week. I hope to keep this form so that it will yield something good for me at the end of the season. Hard work has really paid for me and I have shamed my critics.
