Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo is set to join full training with his new club by October 7, after being sidelined by a shoulder injury.

The 19-year-old defender met with Chelsea’s specialists on Wednesday. They commended his remarkable recovery since undergoing surgery on August 14.

Initial diagnosis had earlier forecast an eight weeks period on the sideline for the Afcon 2013 winner, which would have had his return to training be at about October 14.

But with his rapid recuperation, the defender is favoured to return earlier than expected.

“Kenneth’s check-up was very good as all the Chelsea staff were very impressed with his improvement,” the player’s adviser, Chika Akujobi, told MTNFootball.com.

“I can tell you everything is going very well, as I said earlier it’s faster than we expected, he will start individual field training with one of the coaches and then they will take another look again at him on October 7, when the doctor would have come back from Argentina and after that Kenneth will then join full Chelsea team training.”
