The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) welcomes newcomers FC Taraba, Crown FC and Abia Warriors, who joined Giwa FC, after gaining promotion on (Saturday) the last day of the National League (also known as the Nationwide League).
FC Taraba needed an 89th minute penalty to see off Giwa FC by 1-0, enough to snatch away the second promotion spot from Plateau United who defeated another hopefuls Ranchers Bees 2-1.
The Taraba-based side, under the tutelage of former Nigeria international, Tijani Babangida, finished the second tier league with 48 points, two short of champions Giwa FC.
Abia Warriors sealed their promotion from Group B with a 4-0 humbling of Akwa Starlet.
Crown FC completed the new entrants’ list by beating Fountain FC by a solitary goal. Bode Daniel scored the only goal.
The Ogbomosho-based club ended the Nationwide League season with 44 points while Abia Warriors ended the season with 45 points.
