Mixed Feelings for Obaobona, Despite Leveling for Rizespor at Konyaspor.

Super Eagles defender Godfrey Obaobona was on the scorers sheet at both ends in Monday’s Turkish Super Lig encounter between his club, Caykur Rizespor and Konyaspor.

Despite opening his goalscoring account away at the Konya Ataturk Stadium when he drew level for the visitors, the ex-Sunshine FC defender’s own goal handed the hosts all three points late on in the match.

Konyaspor’s Omer Shiner broke the deadlock four minutes after the restart before Rizespor equalised through Obaobona in the 73rd minute.

The Nigeria international arrived at the other end to smash past Konyaspor’s Cameroonian goalkeeper Charles Itandje, with a left-footed strike from Cenk Ahmet Alkilic’s assist.

Obaobona’s went from hero to villain when he unfortunately turned the ball into his own goal in an attempt to keep out Mehmet Uslu’s free-kick, leaving goalkeeper Serkan Kirintli with no chance.

He played the whole 90 minutes of the match and was yellow-carded in the 30th minute.

Obaobona’s countryman, Kalu Uche, played for 78 minutes before he made ways for David Depetris.

Rizespor are now 13th on the league standing.
