Pedro Scores & Assists in 10-Man Chelsea Win at West Brom

Chelsea held on to their first win of the weeks-old Premier League season, with new signing Pedro scoring and providing an assist on his debut away to West Bromwich Albion.

James Morisson’s brace could not stave off a 2-3 defeat for West Brom, despite the hosts’ numerical dominance in the closing 36 minutes of the Week 3 encounter.

Pedro first carpeted a low strike into the Baggies’ goal to open his Premier League account, and then watched countryman Diego Costa neatly poke home his shot across the goal for Chelsea’s second inside the opening half-hour in the Midlands.

Cesar Azpilicueta completed an afternoon of Spanish delight for the Jose Mourinho side, nesting his one-time shot into the bottom left corner to restore the visitors’ two-goal cushion, after James Morison’s struck to halve West Brom’s deficit.

John Terry received a straight red card for tugging at debutant Salomon Rondon’s shirt while it appeared the Venezuelan was beating the Blues last man in a dash contest just outside the area.

Morisson completed his brace in the 59th minute, when he sent his flicked header into the far corner from Callum McManaman in-swinging cross from the left flank.

That goal left Chelsea hanging on the ropes for much of the closing 20 minutes but the champions hung on the record their first three points of the season.
