Dream Team VI Beat Ghana To Advance Into AAG Semis

Goals from Junior Ajayi and Kingsley Sokari secured an opening 2-0 win for Nigeria’s Men Under-23 against Ghana in the Football Tournaments of the 2015 All-Africa Games on Wednesday.

The Dream Team VI, whose initial opener against Egypt was canceled after the young Pharaohs withdrew from the tournament, have now progressed into the semi-final stage of the tournament with an unassailable three points and with a game to spare.

Ghana drew their opening game with Senegal and both nations will now bank on the outcome of the final Group B game between Senegal and Nigeria on Saturday to determine their fate.

The game at the Stade Municipal de Kintele was evenly poised at half-time, but Junior opened scoring on 55 minutes to get Nigeria on ascendancy from a right wing cross from Daniel Etor.

A one-two combination between captain Sokari and his team-mate ended with the Enyimba FC midfielder lobbing the ball over the Ghana Black Satellites goalkeeper on 87 minutes.

The semi-final matches begin next Tuesday, with the winner of Group B scheduled to face the runners-up from Group A.
