Nigeria’s basketball team recorded a long overdue win in the Rio 2016 Olympics after losing their opening, second and third games. D’Tigers beat Croatia 90-76 to keep their hopes of qualifying for the next round alive.

D’Tigers lost to Argentina, Spain, and Lithuania in their first three games and will face Brazil in their final group game with just a slim chance of progressing to the Quarterfinals.

The Nigerians did not have it easy against the Croatians and had to dig deep to recover from a first quarter losing position of 28-21
to turn the game around. Michael Umeh’s impressive shooting saw him hit 5-of-8 three-pointers for 16 points first half points and the team’s spectacular shooting as the game wore on guaranteed them a hard fought victory.
