Court remands 3 men to prison for alleged murder

Three men identified as Anifowose Wasiu, 29, Yakubu Ogunremi, 33, and Ifakorede Alisa, 25, have been remanded in Prison by an Ota Chief Magistrate’s’ Court in Ogun on Tuesday over an alleged murder.

The accused persons were arraigned for allegedly killing one Sunday Owoyele, 30, and Jimoh Owoyele, 35, by punching them to death with their fists.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A. I. Adelaja, ordered that the defendants be remanded in prison pending advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) on the matter.

The accused persons, whose addresses are unknown, are facing a two-count charge of murder and conspiracy.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Peter Molokwu , had told the court that the accused persons and others still at large , committed the offences on March 17, at about 2.00 p. m. at No. 8, Adekunle St. Wide Ijoko, Ota.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 319(1) and 324 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The case was adjourned until June 30 for hearing.
