Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), says candidates are to answer questions by e-testing in the 2013 Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The registrar made the disclosure in an interview in Bwari on Tuesday.
He said that by e-testing, every candidate would answer questions on computer and await the marking of the scripts by the computer automatically.
“The board shall be commencing e-testing in the 2013 UTME for candidates because this is what is obtained everywhere in the world,’’ he said.
Ojerinde explained that e-testing would facilitate quick delivery of results to candidates and reduce anxiety by candidates who had been previously waiting longer for their results by manual testing.
The registrar said that e-testing for candidates would be optional in the 2013 UTME to ensure qualitative and total delivery by the board.
He also said that charges for the 2013 UTME forms might increase, due to the cost of maintenance of the computers to be used for the testing.
He said further that the cost of subsequent forms would come down after some years of full implementation of e-testing.
Ojerinde said there would be at least one e-testing centre in one state of the 36 states of the federation for the 2013 UTME.
The registrar said the actual date to start the sales of 2013 UTME forms had not been announced, adding that the board would meet in September to decide that.

Ok. But wil d masses cope with dis? If so, den computer traning is neccessary. Cudos 2 mr. Ojerinde
Looking at this, nat every one can comply with dis new system..bcos the time frame for answering questionz wld b too short..so also adequate answers cannot be submitted easily
lol…chai,no more runs o!
Well its a welcom idea but wil malpractice stop?
I tot there should be vivid and elaborate explanation on how this will be carried out
Yes , we are improving gradually, God will help us to reach the climax of technology in this Country
Dats nt d prob Mr. Ojerinede cub exam malpractice, nd stop deceiving us with types when candidates can easily change their exam types, my suggestion is for the board to print the types given to candidates on the computer sheet i think that will go along way 2 cub this problem, if not we will continually sink in corruption and malpractice and you know what dat means the future of we young ones is heading for destruction.
Why not prepare well before the implementation of this e-testing? I just hope this will not cause any confusion when others are been tested manually o
Mehn am not in support this joooooooooor……….i mean hw can i make more money in exam center? Mr. Ojirinde beta plan another way please.
This is a good step towards taking Nigeria to an e country. Kudos
Quite an interesting improvement but d case is: will dis system favor d candidates since dey r used 2 d paper form? I certainly think dat d is method should b shifted until my kid broda sits 4 his.
will i will say that the disition been made will not help me as a STUDENT
It is a good idea! Actually, it is obtainable in the world nowadays, but it is not obtainable in the economy for now…it will not favour the targeted audience (that is, the students); certain things need to be done before introducing the E-testing UTME. But, since it will be optional in 2013 UTME, no problems trying it and also compare the outcomes with the paper option. So, no need overtrashing the issue. Thanks for the fortunate development.
I will special thank the head of this decision is a very good idea but marking it optional is what dnt like,if is e-testing let being e-testing if is manual let it being manual.thank you God bess
Pls, any latest on d 2012 Jamb recruitment?
i’ll love to have more details on this examination.
