Job description Operations Director

Successful delivery of all operations in line with Company objectives and commitments to clients and to other stakeholders.

Prime responsibilities and duties

  • Direct Operations to assure delivery metrics:-
     Safety/environment – top priority – no-one gets hurt/no harm or pollution
     Quality – fit for purpose – in accordance with agreed specifications
     Schedule – on time
     Contract commercial and cost – ‘as bid’ performance as minimum
     Compliance with contract
     Compliance with Nigerian content legislation (NCD)
  • Deliver required financial results through
     Effective delivery of projects
     Management of Joint Ventures and critical supplier agreements
  • Champion a culture that places safety and the environment as top priorities at all levels throughout the Company
  • Build trust and confidence with clients at a senior level and act as Project Sponsor.
  • Develop, refine and deploy Company systems, processes and policies to ensure they are state of the art, effective and best in class for EPC and shipyard organisation
  • Ensure that the Company selects, develops and deploys trained and competent people in line and functional roles with dual focus of maximising use of Nigerian Nationals and bringing in world class expertise
  • Support the acquisition of new work by actively sponsoring technical bids for targeted projects
  • Maintain adequate backlog and throughput of work
  • Create business strategies and plans for each operational area to grow the business in accordance with the Company development plan
  • Ensure that all bids are fully compliant including in terms of Nigerian Content Act
  • Ensure the highest levels of transparency and integrity are maintained within the business.
  • Sponsor and maintain Nigerdock as Nigeria’s industrial champion

Other Duties

  • Participate as a member of the Senior Management Team
  • Participate in the Executive Committee and/or other such senior meetings as required
  • Provide support and assistance to the MD and deputise for him during his absence
  • Represent the Company at conferences and exhibitions
  • Mentor at least one high potential Nigerian national in terms of senior management development

Requirements Operations Director

  • Strongest commitment to high standards of safety and safeguarding of the environment
  • Preferably degree qualified in an Engineering or Commercial discipline
  • Strong Leadership style empathetic to a multi-cultural business environment
  • High level of integrity and ethical behaviour – sets a good example
  • Good communication skills – oral, written, IT and presentation
  • Preferably has previous experience of working in developing countries
  • Significant track record of success within an operations focussed environment – gained with an Oil and Gas EPC/EPCIC contractor – must have delivered successful EPC/EPCIC projects
  • Able to be a change agent and bring EPC best practice
  • Highly motivated and performance orientated
  • Strategically focused
  • Commercially astute with a focus on delivering financial results
  • Previous P&L responsibility for a substantial business unit or division
  • Good Time Management and delegation skills
  • Committed to development of talent at all levels in the Company

Terms & Conditions Operations Director

  • For this position preference will be given to Nigerian Nationals. In case expatriate candidates are selected, it is a prerequisite he/she is tasked to mentor and train a Nigerian understudy.
