Fashion: The Right Way To Colour Block

color-block-1

Colour blocking is one fashion trend that has just refused to die out. If you just can’t get enough of bright colour combos, here are a few tips to make sure you’re doing it right:

1, The first thing you need to know about colour blocking is that, like all fashion trends, it needs to be tailored to your own personal style. Don’t follow the trend blindly. Do it your way, have fun, play around and colour block!!!

2, Look out for the colours of the colour wheel. Colours opposite each other or right beside each other are good options for colour blocking. If you hesitate to wear too bright colours, try blending with a neutral colour.

3, When choosing accessories, tone the look down with neutrals so your outfit doesn’t look too busy. You’re trying to look colourful but not like a circus act.

4, Always make sure to wear natural makeup with color-blocked outfits.

5,Don’t add prints, florals, stripes, frills into the mix – stick to solid blocks of colour in simple shapes (shifts, tunics, pencil skirts etc)

6, Pair up to three colours at most – anything more will make you look like a rainbow

7,Don’t wear  bright pieces on your trouble areas, for example, if you have a big belly, wear the brighter piece on your bottom half , that is, as skirts or trousers.

If you are new at colour blocking, limit your colour blocks to two colours first. Once you get the hang of it, you can mix more colours and try pairing opposite colours together.
