In the aftermath of the suit filed against the National Sports Commission (NSC) by the Mega Veterans Handball Limited, challenging the election into the board of the Handball Federation of Nigeria; current and former elite players in Nigeria filed a motion on Tuesday seeking to join the suit.
The involvement of Elite players in the suit filed at the Federal High Court Abuja by the Mega Veteran Handball Limited has increased the crisis rocking the federation and likewise hampers NSC’s resolve to settle grievances out of court.
The National Coordinator of Mega Veterans Handball Limited, Mr. Nicholas Nwani, disclosed to newsmen that the recent development does not surprise him.
He said the means of livelihood of the stakeholders, such as current and former national handball players have been seriously threatened in recent years by the inactivity in the game.
Nwani added that it is a course for every present and former player of the game to pursue by showing concern with what is happening because within the last four years, the Board has not oragnised any competition.
Which the coordinator said is tantamount to some handball clubs “like Owena Kings (male) and Owena Queens (female) both in Ondo State folding up with over forty players losing their jobs.”
The elite players are made up of various handball players playing for clubs in the country and around the world; former National League players, former national team players, team managers, former team managers, coaches, former coaches and other stakeholders in the game of handball in Nigeria.
