IK Uche, Imoh Score for Various Clubs as More Nigerians Hit Target

Nigeria international Ikechukwu Uche was on target for his La Liga club Villareal in a 4-1 win over Valencia on Sunday.

Uche, 29, opened scoring for the ‘Yellow Submarine’ in the 17th minute, slotting a Giovani Dos Santos cross from the left into the net.

He later turned provider when his goal-bound header was turned home by the Mexican Dos Santos for Villareal’s third goal before he was substituted in the 73rd minute.

Uche has now scored two league goals since the start of the season and Villareal moved up to fourth in the La Liga table with 20 points following the victory.

Former Nigeria Under-17 striker Macauley Chrisantus scored a hat-trick for his Spanish Segunda club Las Palmas in a 3-2 win at Sporting Gijon on Sunday.

Macauley has now scored four goals for the Spanish second division club who are now sixth on the league standing with 17 points from 11 matches.

In Belgium, Ezekiel Imoh helped Standard Liege claim a point in a 1-1 draw away at Anderlecht.

Imoh’s 36th minute equalizer helped Liege return to the top of the Belgian Jupiller League on 29 points from 12 games. The 36 Lion of Lagos discovery has now scored six goals this season.

Michael Uchegbo scored his second league goal for Circle Bruges in a 1-1 draw against Gent at GHELAMCO-arena on Friday.

In Denmark, 23-year-old Nigerian Sylveter Igboun scored his sixth league goal for his club FC Midtjylland in a 1-1 draw against FC Nordsjaelland at Farum Park.

The solitary point helped the Danish club remain top of the log with 24 points from 13 matches.

Stanley Ohawuchi scored his ninth goal of the season in the Malta Premier League to help his club Sliema Wanderers record a 2-0 win over Vittoriosa Stars.

The former Heartland FC striker scored in the 50th minute before making ways for Gueye six minutes later.

Sliema Wanderers are fourth on the league table with 18 points from nine games.
