Del Bosque to Remain Spain Coach Until 2016

Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque has signed a new contract which keeps him in charge of the ‘La Furia Roja’ until 2016.

The 62-year-old former Real Madrid and Besiktas coach took over from Luis Aragones in July 2008, and has helped Spain win the World Cup and two successive European Championships. He also set a world record of winning his opening 13 matches in charge of a national team.

The world champions lost 3-0 to 2014 FIFA World Cup hosts Brazil in the final match of the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup. That loss was one of the only six defeats the team have suffered in 82 matches under Del Bosque, who presided over 67 victories.
