Enyeama Faces Fitness Assessment Ahead of Congo

Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama is to be assessed by team doctors ahead of Saturday’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier.

Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Ike Shorunmu has confirmed that the LOSC Lille goal tender is nursing a “slight shoulder injury” injury and could miss out on selection for Saturday’s decisive match in Congo.

“I cannot say now if Vincent would be between the posts for the game against Congo this weekend,” Ike said.

“Vincent has a slight shoulder injury which he sustained while in action in his club. But he has seen the team doctors who have communicated to me that it’s not too serious.

“So during training I would confirm if it’s good or not and that would determine whether or not he would be in goal for the game.”

Coach Stephen Keshi could however call on Austine Ejide or Chigozie Agbim in Enyeama’s absence.
