Torres to Complete Permanent Transfer to Milan

Fernando Torres will seal a permanent deal with Italian Serie A side AC Milan on January 5, according to Premier League club Chelsea.

The Spaniard has been playing for Milan since joining on a two-year loan in August.

A club statement said: “Chelsea Football Club thanks Fernando for his service during the past four seasons and wishes him the very best for the future.”

The 30-year-old joined Chelsea from Liverpool in January 2011. He helped the London club win the Champions League, the Europa League and the FA Cup during his three-and-a-half-year spell, scoring vital goals in the Champions League semi-final victory over Barcelona at the Nou Camp and the goal that clinched the Europa League trophy against Benfica a year later.

He was in the Spain squad that won a second successive European Championship in 2012, securing the Golden Boot in the process.
